You Are a Hawk

You have a fighting spirit, and you don't back down from any challenge. You aren't scared of getting in the mix.

You aren't necessarily violent, but you understand why violence sometimes is necessary. It's a cruel world out there.

You are a natural debater. People may find you belligerent, but you just like to argue. It's not personal.

You rather have conflict than pretend to go along to get along. You stand up for what you believe in.

Grief comes at unexpectd times, like the first real snowfall of the year apparently. My father and I have been commenting throughout the year how it feels as though my grandmother just went home, and not that she passed away. Well the grief has finally hit home for me. I woke up this morning in anguish realizing that my brother won't be picking my grandmother up for Christmas December 19th. I miss her. This year there will be no hand scrawled card, no Christmas ornaments, no Christmas morning smiles, and no glowing joy in her eyes Christmas morning. There will be no Christmas naps, no arguing over who's taking her to Macy's, just no grandma. After 28 years, our family Christmas will never be the same, but it will still and always be Christmas. I cherish all the traditions given by both of my grandparents and will enjoy making new ones for my daughter (I may even finally eat a herring this New Years, but we'll see). I regret all the things I didn't do or say, all the things I wanted to do after she moved up to CT and just never did. Those regrets will stay with me longer then the sorrow of the loss, but hopefully with time it will all be well and I will enjoy and pass on the traditions that were passed on to me, and enjoy the memories. I just hope she is where she wants to be and she is finally at peace.
The Moody Blues - December Snow
Like December snow, That lays in the wood
You're gone too soon, I knew you should

With October skies, You brought your love
But November came, Taking all I have and
Time, take this sadness from me
Time, bring my heart back safely
Hold on to warm September
'Cause life can be like December snow

Life Goes On - Terri Clark
My mama always said they'll be lesson that you learn
But you don't need to know 'em all right now
And I'm learning as I go, And the more I learn I know
The less I want to know anyhow

Oh, but life goes on
And before too long
You figure out you're right where you belong
It's sad and it's sweet
But if you're lucky it keeps going on and on and on
